UNIQUE WINTER FAMILY SESSION IDEAS FOR SPOKANE FAMILIES

So maybe you skipped out on the fall family photos and are regretting it, but the weather has turned and for now the sun is gone. I’m a big believer in having family photos taken for more than just your annual Christmas card. If your family has a favorite activity that you’d like professional photos taken of to savor the memory for long after your kids have grown and left the house, my adventure family sessions are the way to go. They’re active, fun and completely unique and creative family photo sessions. Here’s a few of my favorite ideas for these winter time family photo sessions.

Snow day photos. Dress your kiddos up and go outside, I’ll capture the family building snowmen and sipping hot cocoa by the fire pit.

River draw down photos. For a very limited time each winter, the Spokane river is drawn down exposing beautiful rocky beaches. While it is something to be very cautious while checking out as water levels can change quickly, it is also a really cool family photo opportunity. I do recommend not straying far from the banks and checking the local news outlets for information before doing it. I’ll show some examples below of my own family.

Ski mountain photos. The ski mountain is the perfect winter wonderland. If you have a family of skiers, this is a great opportunity to catch some cool photos of your family out doing their favorite thing together. We’ll stick to the bunny hill, the lodge, and maybe the lift for some really cool photos.

Snowshoeing photos. Another great way to capture some cool family memories in the winter. Gorgeous PNW forests and snowy trails are the ultimate place for winter photos.

Iceskating photos. The Numerica Skate Ribbon is another great place for some family photos that are unique. Take me along for fun family outing. I recommend doing this at night for some pretty, grainy, vintage looking photos taken with pretty lights.

Cozy on the couch photos. If outdoor winter activities aren’t your thing, there’s always cozy on the couch photos. Your family can wear their pajamas and enjoy a bowl of popcorn while I photograph the cozy staying inside memories. Adding something fun like baking cookies could also create a fun memory to preserve.
