How to dress for newborn photos
Keep the outfits simple. This is important regardless of if you just had your baby or you are pregnant and planning ahead. Simple is always best, because it keeps the focus on you, your baby, and your family.
Choose neutral/muted colors. Your photos will remain timeless if you choose outfits in neutral or muted colors. This doesn’t mean without any color at all, but I recommend limiting it. Blue denim, gray tones, white or creamy, black, brown, will create more colors in your photos than you realize, because cameras are very sensitive to color.
Dress comfortably. For mom wearing maternity jeans, a simple casual dress, leggings, joggers, lounge trousers with a sweater can be a great option. Don’t forget a cute nursing bra if you want breastfeeding photos. For dad, joggers, jeans, khakis and a t-shirt are great. Dress your kids in complimentary outfits to mom and dad. Dress your newborn in a simple fitted onesie and have a cute muslin swaddle ready to be used. If you can find some simple, plain white diapers, those look nice too for nearly nude photos.
